Thomas R.'s Story
Family
In 1983, I was introduced to my wife, Maryann Oles, by a mutual friend in Chicago. After dating for four years, we were married in 1987. We have no children.
Career
I have worked primarily in the railway industry. Initially, I worked at Thrall Car Manufacturing Co. in Chicago Heights then, in 1978, joined American Steel Foundries (ASF) in Chicago. In May, 2000 I took a job with Siemens Transportation Systems in Sacramento, California. We sold our homes in Indiana and moved to California. We now live on the far south side of Shingle Springs, near Latrobe, California, about 35 miles east of Sacramento...Expand for more
. Since mid-2006, I've been working for Schwihag, a Swiss manufacturer of components for railway track and switches.
Hobbies and Interests
My wife and I enjoy cooking, gardening, wine, and travel. I have always enjoyed photographing old trains, which hobby has taken me to over 20 countries on 5 continents (we have yet to visit South America). Lately, Maryann and I have spent some time documenting our family histories. We have traveled to several small villages in Germany and Poland from which our respective ancestors emigrated.
